If you've ever thought about selling products via the internet, then you may be interested in implementing one of the two Perl coded stores I've installed and reviewed in the past. Both are great in my opinion. They are Commerce-CGI and NightMedia's CityShop.
CommerceCGI doesn't seem to be as feature based as far as the manager script goes, but it seemed far simpler to modify and add code to it then CityShop did. But I liked them both and if I ever get around to actually selling online I'm not really sure which one I'd use. But I'm thinking Commerce-CGI because I like to change a lot of code and it seemed far easier to work with.
It also has an active member section where you can get access to alot of code hacks once you pay to become a member there. CityShop on the other hand seems like the best turn-key, right-out-of-the-box solution to me. And the code isn't to difficult to work with really, but for some reason I find the Commerce-CGI code far simpler to deal with.
I'd imagine the preference differs according to the individual. If your looking for a free online store solution, both of these Perl coded software solutions are well worth the effort to look. Why not try one of them for a bit of a break from playing with the WebAPP v1.0 SE code. Either of them would make a great combo with the WebAPP software for your website operations if your in need of an online store as well.
