Getting Started: Installing the WebAPP Software Article Delay
I thought I would have this brief tutorial written a few days ago.
Installing steps are rather quick if you've done such a thing often. If this would be your first time, a lot of detail would help. So I'm trying to include a lot of screenshots, and possible snags you may run into. Should help you proceed as easily as possible. It doesn't take much of an error or snag to completely ruin your install attempt. Especially if you have no idea as to where you'd even begin to look for what went wrong.
Anyway, in my attempt at documenting an install into a subdomain of BensonBear Unlimited I ran into a major problem myself. The software installation has security features built in, so that once you begin the install; no one else can load up your online install pages and take it over. The problem was the subdomain install attempt kept failing to authenticate me at each step, over and over and over.
Previously, I remember that every subdomain install I've done; I also had this problem but went through a very lengthy manual install. Such an install isn't the way a novice type of user should have to go through. So I spent a few hours each day up until late last night to figure out what's going wrong. And the figuring out part is done, along with a quick prevention step. A permanent fix has yet to be made. So with that said.
demo001 has been installed. Anyone wishing to test drive such a demo with admin powers can contact me by email via contacts page or register as a member here and post in articles comments or forums.
So hopefully a detailed install procedure article will get finished within a day, maybe two.
Check the previous GettingStarted article if your interested; for preparing to install steps. There's no reason to wait if you've prepared already. Why not try the install yourself. The simplified procedure is documented in the readme.txt of the download. Then if your having problems the Installing WebAPP v1.0 SE should be of help. More help is available here and at the www.web-app.net site in the forums.
